Swiss Water Decaffeinated Italian coffee
if you've been looking for a Swiss water decaffeinated coffee company, look no further! Our Italian water processed decaffeinated coffee with no chemicals using a natural processing method, is well worth a try.
This coffee decaffeinated with water is a fabulous variant of our Italian High Roast, whereby the beans are roasted until they turn black and oils are produced. Roasted using this very same method, the only difference being that we are using a Swiss Water version of the beans. So that you can enjoy your coffee fix without the caffeine.
Flavour
Traditional dark espresso roast, with a dark chocolate bitter edge.
Great for use with an espresso machine or moka pot.
The Swiss Water Process – The Technical Information
This is how Swiss Water describe their process of decaffeination;
‘To prepare the beans for caffeine removal, they are cleaned and hydrated with pure, local water, the beans are then introduced to an internally developed Green Coffee Extract (GCE), and caffeine removal begins.
Caffeine ventures out on its own, away from the coffee beans into the GCE until the ratio of soluble compounds in the GCE to the compounds in the coffee reach the point of equilibrium. Caffeine and GCE flow continuously through carbon filters until all the caffeine is trapped and separated from the GCE, which is refreshed so that it can be used again and again to remove more caffeine.
The process is monitored for around 10 hours and caffeine levels checked as well as time, and gauge temperature controls, until the coffee is 99.9% caffeine free.’

Italian High Roast - Decaf
I like a traditional Italian rost/blend - I want a dark chocolate espresso, not an acidic, fruity drink that is popular at the moment (I think these only work well as longer drinks, often with milk). I always have a full-caf and decaf bean on the go so thought I would try this as a decaf option. I was pleasantly surprised and will buy again. It's much darker than a traditional Italian roast in my opinion, but it's not ashy and doesn't leave a nasty aftertaste (I don't take sugar in my espresso). It definitely hits the dark chocolate mark.

My favourite coffee.
Tastes every bit as good as caffeinated, and great to have if you drink a few coffees during the day.

Rich
Quite a deep rich coffee, full bodied taste without the buzz. Edging towards the bitter end of the scale but tempered brilliantly by its richness.
