Nilgiri has a light to medium body with a rich subtle flavour.
One of the few black teas that is suited to morning, noon and night.
Hailing from southern India, the word Nilgiri literally means 'Blue Mountains'.
Nilgiri is very forgiving and can't really be oversteeped.
It stands up well with milk and sugar.
Can be enjoyed with or without milk.
Preparation: Use approximately 1 heaped teaspoon per cup. Pour over freshly boiled water and cover. Leave to stand for 3-5 minutes. Dispose of the used tea leaves.
Use with a tea strainer or tea pot to avoid the mess.

Pumphrey's Nilgiri Tea
We have just opened our new packet of Nilgiri tea. Light and refreshing - let it brew for just 3 or 4 minutes. Thank you again, Pumphrey's.

Pumphrey's Nilgiri Tea
We have just started on our latest 1kg packet of Nilgiri tea (Lot 380, week 5 to be precise). Nilgiri is a pleasant light-flavoured tea which is at its best when brewed in a teapot for about 4 minutes. We have been drinking it for several years now. Before that we drank Nuwara Eliya, but this is nicer. I haven't come across it anywhere else but Pumphreys.
