These delicious treats were appreciated as far back as the 1300's when they were made by monks in their Abbeys and Monasteries in the Tuscan hills using flour, honey, sugar and the sweet fruits of the almond trees that grew in their surrounding areas. They are traditionally dipped into sweet wine, but are also delicious with coffee or used as an ingredient in desserts.
