Barista Training Course Content
This fully certified bespoke training course runs for a full day (9am-5pm)and aims for candidates with limited or no experience of using an espresso machine, to learn the basic operational skills needed for the work place environment. These skills are fully transferable to an enthusiast brewing coffee at home too.
On this barista course you will learn a wide range of skills, brew methods, including but not limited to, how to set up a coffee machine, how to set the grind on your espresso machine, espresso extraction and how to foam and texture your milk perfectly along with how to make specialty coffee. It will also teach you how to clean down an espresso machine at the end of the day. A fully comprehensive guide to all the barista skills that you may need in a café or coffee shop environment, so you can enter the world of coffee with confidence.
All of the practical skills that you learn, are also backed up with theoretical knowledge, so that you can gain an understanding of why processes are completed in a certain way.
Certification
This barista training course is practically examined throughout the day and ends with a short theory test to ensure that each candidate has understood the information that they have been taught.
On completion of this training session, all paperwork is externally verified by the Beverage Standards Association, who in conjunction with City & Guilds, ensure that certain criteria are being met. You would then receive a Pass, Merit or Distinction, which is an internationally recognised qualification suitable for a professional barista. If you do not pass the theory or practical test on your first attempt, Pumphreys Coffee will arrange a suitable time for these to be reassessed, this will not occur on the same day.
Please note that certificates can take up to 10 weeks to arrive, once you have successfully completed the course. These will be posted directly to the candidate by Pumphreys Coffee.

The course is full of great information. As there are only a few people per class the class feels intimate and allows everyone's questions to be answered

BSA Barista Skills L-1 Training Course
This was a really fantastic training course: the trainer was really friendly and helpful - my sister and I learned so much about the practicalities of making coffee and the underlying theory. Worth every penny of my father's money!
