Maragogype or widely known as the Elephant bean is well known for its large size and high cup quality. It is a natural mutation of Typica, but has much lower yields hence the scarcity of the beans on the market. As this bean is grown in higher temperate regions, it produces a coffee that is smoother and richer in flavour than standard Arabica beans - combined with a slight acidity it results in an all round coffee that can be enjoyed from Cafetiere, Filter or as an Espresso.
The aroma is initially sweet and nutty with hints of caramel and honey, on the palate there is a soft acidity that balances beautifully with creamy chocolate and nutty undertones. As the taste lingers on the tongue notes of citrus and tropical fruits emerge which adds a refreshing touch.

My favourite coffee
I like coffee that has a full and rich flavour but without the bitterness that many continental high-roast coffees have. Mragogype fits the bill exactly.
