Green land estate lies between Pyin Oo Lwin and Mogok in Thatkan Village. Acquired in 1998 with coffee planted in 1999 the arabica trees are intercropped with silver oak and macadamia trees for shade. U Sai Wan Maing, Green lands owner now runs one of the largest arabica plantations in the country which has won numerous awards in national quality competitions, he is also one of fewer than 20 certified Q arabica graders in the country. Around 15 workers are employed full time on the farm rising to 100 when the harvest is ongoing. Green land installed an on-site processing facility with a Pinhalense wet mill, this has a washer separator, eco super pulper, rotary screener and demulcilator. Only fully ripe cherries are sent to the wet mill and depulped within 20 hours of harvest, any remaining floaters are removed before soaking in tiled tanks where the fermentation process takes 20-25 hours. After washing, parchment is dried on a concrete patio in the sun and turned hourly in the day and covered at night to prevent reintroducing moisture, after 7-10 days drying the parchment has reached 12% moisture content. This is then stored in the warehouse for resting after the harvest until a buyer is found, then sent to MCG for dry milling final sorting and export.
